Poker has taken the Internet by storm

Poker has been around for centuries, so how come the sudden boom that has recently taken the Internet by storm?

There are some things that poker enthusiasts don’t like about playing with friends: the first thing is that they have to wait until they get some folk together before they can play - usually a weekend evening; second of all, when it starts getting late people start dropping off to go home, which leaves little enough people to play, until within a few hours it’s already over; thirdly , and sometimes most annoyingly is that if a player goes all in and goes out early in a game they have to sit and watch everyone else play for maybe an hour or more – how frustrating!

These are possibly the biggest reasons for the boom in poker popularity. These reasons were the biggest reasons not to play poker, but now that the poker enthusiast can play poker online they have full control over when they play and when they stop playing, and when they go out they can simply start another game. Because of these features added by the power of the internet, a great game has been allowed to flourish.

The only difficult part about making the progression into the online world of poker is finding out where the best places are to play, and where to stay away from. This can be the most daunting stage in starting to play online poker. To know where the best places to play, and the places to stay away from, makes the transition to online poker a relatively easy one.

There are sites out there to help the online poker beginner find out where the best places are to play; which places to stay away from, and which poker rooms are suitable to play in when the poker player fancies a change of scenery. One such site is the poker review site Poker Online UK. This site gives a number out of ten (a poker rank) of the top poker websites on the internet; and gives a description of the sites that it has ranked.

Another great benefit that the Poker Online UK website gives to the new online poker player is Poker Bonus Codes. Poker bonus codes can be used by a new player to get them free money when they join an online poker site. The first poker bonus code used by Poker Online UK, for the very popular poker room Party Poker, is “POUK”. If a new player signs up to play at party poker that player can put POUK in the “bonus code” box when filling the form out in the process of signing up for Party Poker, and that player will receive a free 20% of their first cash deposit, and can receive anything up to $100 free! Another poker bonus code for Party Poker is POUK25. This code will give the new player a free $25 when they sign up and make their first deposit, no matter how much their first deposit is.

It’s simple to type POUK in the box when signing up with Party Poker, but the Poker Online UK website makes it even easier. For most of the poker rooms listed on the homepage of Poker Online UK it’s simply just a matter of clicking on the special link to that poker room and the bonus cash will be added to the new player’s account as soon as they make their first deposit. For example: if you click on this link now and make your first cash deposit there will be a free $25 added to the real cash account when the Party Poker account is created.

Another useful poker review site is Poker Websites. This site is similar to Poker Online UK, but in a different style. Poker Websites has a number that has been mathematically calculated to rank all of the top poker websites. Poker Websites is an affiliate of Poker News. Poker News is a new website dedicated to providing online poker players with the best poker news that they want to know about.

Poker has been around for a long time, but it’s only now that we enthusiasts have the freedom to play it whenever we want. God bless the Internet!

Online gambling ban back on the radar

The convoluted Internet gambling debate in Congress has taken another bizarre turn. News that Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist is trying to tack an online gambling ban onto a military authorization bill is catching flak from bloggers across the political spectrum.

The libertarian Cato Institute blasted the development this month on its Web site:

“What’s most aggravating about Congress’ full-throttle push to ban online (gambling) is that there’s really no call for it from the public, save for some of the fringe family-values conservatives ¦ Frist’s sudden interest looks like little more than election-year red meat.”

The House passed an Internet gambling prohibition in July, but the Senate has yet to act on similar legislation. Before Frist’s interest, observers had given an online betting ban little chance of passage because special interests couldn’t come to a compromise with conservatives pushing the bill and Senate Republicans didn’t see the issue as a priority.

The House bill, which would clarify federal law to outlaw online betting, exempts the horse-racing industry, state lotteries and, in a nod to supporters of the National Football League, fantasy sports contests. The Cato Institute calls these exemptions “naked hypocrisy.” Others call it politics as usual and the only way a ban will ever pass Congress.

While the latest development is unsettling for online operators, it’s not nearly as troubling to them as the recent arrests of Internet sports betting chieftains, which suggest that both state and federal law enforcement officials are flexing their legal muscle against offshore casinos already believed to be illegal under federal law.

Online bingo could soon be available at pubs across the UK following an announcement by internet service provider Tiscali.

The company has indicated that it will provide 90,000 broadband internet terminals with the equipment for a number of games that could include bingo, reports VNUnet.

Different games, which will be brought to machines by Inspired Broadcast Networks, will be offered throughout the country.

If the service is installed it will allow bingo fans to enjoy the numbers game while drinking with their friends, adding another element to a night out.

Earlier this year, a new website called Bingo 4 Him was set up with the aim of attracting more male players to the game.

Bingo 4 Him is designed to educate men about bingo and introduce them to the masculine appeal of playing the game.

Information is provided about the more male-friendly sites available on the internet.

The People’s Republic of China have been considering legalizing online casino gambling, according to Tony Tong, CEO of Pacific Net, a company that sells Baccarat machines.

Macau is already a casino capital, and that is where the government would more then likely license companies there.

Currently, the government takes around 40 percent of the house winnings in Macau, which means that spreading gambling online would be a huge benefit to government revenues.

GigaMedia sells software for poker and other games are hoping to expand in China as well. The company’s FunTown website is one of the largest Mahjong sites in the world where members play for points and prizes.

Over 50 percent of GigaMedia’s subscribers spend over 100 hours a week on the site.

GigaMedia is also backing up EverestPoker, which is a rapidly growing poker site in Europe, and they run an online casino gambling blog in Taiwan called Wretch.

“The U.K. will likely become a center for online casino gaming,” a GigaMedia representative said.

Looks like online casino gambling firms will get a new HUGE HUGE marked in Asia soon.
