Mansion, the international gaming entertainment company, has announced its support of the 2007 Aussie Millions Poker Championship at the Crown Casino in Melbourne, Australia.
MansionPoker.com has confirmed it will be flying online satellite winners to Melbourne to be part of the televised poker event that begins on January 6 and continues until January 19. The online poker room will also be hosting qualifying tournaments for the Aussie Millions with seven premium packages on offer, each worth around AU$14,000.
The packages include the Aussie Millions tournament entry fee, entry fee to a feature event, twelve nights accommodation at the five star Crown Towers hotel, plus $2,500 towards travel expenses.
The daily satellite tournaments afford three players qualification for a seat at the Aussie Millions final tournament on Sunday December 3, with the option of a buy-in to the $300 plus $20 freezeout. Alternatively there are eight-handed single table tournaments with buy-ins of $1500 plus $75.
MansionPoker.com also maintains its commitment to its player-to-player online poker offering in the US market.

World Series of Poker Tournament History

Posted in Poker by Diana Sterling

Nowadays World Series of Poker (WSOP) is one of the biggest (if not even the biggest one of all) international poker circuits. But let’s try to make a trip back in time and see what the history of this well known poker event is.

World Series of Poker - A bid of WSOP History
Everything started in 1970, when Tom Morehead (from Reno’s Riverside Casino) organized the first edition on World Series of Poker as an international, invitational only event. And the first winner (nominated by all seven player’s votes) was Johnny Moss, but unfortunely for him at that time he earned only a silver cup and the title of first “World Champion of Poker” and no cash prize.

The things started to change in the very next year when Benny Binion (maybe the biggest promoter of the poker game in the whole gambling industry) and his sons (Jack Binion and Ted Binion) get envolved in the event organization. At this time the first cash prizes appeared and they increased almost every year, eventually in 1991 reaching the incredible value of one million dollars. This prize stayed for 9 years, but starting with the new millennium its incredible growth was resumed and in 2005 the last winner of World Series of Poker went home with 7.5 million dollars!

I’ll mention here all world series of poker winners, and their earnings so you can see not only the list of champs but also how the prizes and the world series of poker payouts increased over time:

 1971 WSOP – Johnny Moss – 30,000 USD
 1972 WSOP – Amarillo Slim Preston – 80,000 USD
1973 WSOP – Puggy Pearson – 130,000 USD (for the very first time the 100.000 dollars milestone was passed)
 1974 WSOP – Johnny Moss – 160,000 USD
 1975 WSOP – Sailor Roberts – 210,000 USD
 1976 WSOP – Doyle Brunson – 220,000 USD
1977 WSOP - Doyle Brunson – 340,000 USD (for the very first time the one quarter million dollars milestone was passed)
 1978 WSOP – Bobby Baldwin – 210,000 USD
 1979 WSOP – Hal Fowler – 270,000 USD
 1980 WSOP – Stu Ungar – 385,000 USD
 1981 WSOP – Stu Ungar – 375,000 USD
1982 WSOP – Jack Strauss – 520,000 USD (for the very first time the half million dollars milestone was passed)
 1983 WSOP – Tom McEvoy – 580,000 USD
 1984 WSOP – Jack Keller – 660,000 USD
 1985 WSOP – Bill Smith – 700,000 USD
 1986 WSOP – Berry Johnston – 570,000 USD
 1987 WSOP – Johnny Chan – 625,000 USD
 1988 WSOP – Johnny Chan – 700,000 USD
1989 WSOP – Phil Hellmuth Jr. – 755,000 USD (for the very first time the three quarter million dollars milestone was passed)
 1990 WSOP – Mansour Matloubi – 895,000 USD
1991 WSOP – Brad Daugherty – 1,000,000 USD (and finally this historical day came, when the winner of the event won one million dollars)
 1992 WSOP – Hamid Dastmalchi – 1,000,000 USD
 1993 WSOP – Jim Bechtel – 1,000,000 USD
 1994 WSOP – Russ Hamilton – 1,000,000 USD
 1995 WSOP – Dan Harrington – 1,000,000 USD
 1996 WSOP – Huck Seed – 1,000,000 USD
 1997 WSOP – Stu Ungar – 1,000,000 USD
 1998 WSOP – Scotty Nguyen – 1,000,000 USD
 1999 WSOP – J.J. “Noel” Furlong – 1,000,000 USD
2000 WSOP – Chris Ferguson – 1,500,000 USD (after nine years when the winner prize remained 1 million dollars finally it went up again)
 2001 WSOP – Carlos Mortensen – 1,500,000 USD
2002 WSOP – Rober Varkonyi – 2,000,000 USD (the grand prize goes up once again ‘till the incredible amount of 2 million dollars)
2003 WSOP – Chris Moneymaker – 2,500,000 USD (and once again ‘till 2.5 million dollars)
2004 WSOP – Greg Fossilman Raymer – 5,000,000 USD (incredible – the winner of 2004 WSOP won 5 million dollars)
2005 WSOP – Joe Hachem – 7,500,000 USD (and finally, the actual world champion, the winner of the last WSOP won the outrageus amount of 7.5 million dollars).

I have to mention also that starting with 1973 new events were added and removed to the main no limit Texas Hold’em, reaching in 2006 the number of 42 different events which cover all major poker variations (and here I mention just a few of them: Texas Hold’em, Omaha Hold’em, Five-cards stud, Seven-card stud, Eight or Better, Chinese Poker). Every event winners get, on top of their cash prize, a gold bracelet or a gold.

Online gaming firm 888 Holdings Plc confirmed today that it has held talks with third parties since the United States banned Internet gambling financial transactions at the end of September.

The confirmation follows weekend media reports in the United Kingdom that 888.com and Party Gaming.com were holding preliminary talks about a possible merger.

In a statement 888 said it had held “various preliminary discussions with third parties following suspension of its U.S. activities,” adding that there was no certainty that the discussions would proceed to an offer being made for the company or any other action.

Earlier reports said executives from the two companies - which would have a joint market capitalization of almost GBP1.6 billion ($3 billion) - expected to hold further talks in the coming weeks as gaming firms consider options to combine their online pool of players in the wake of the U.S. changes.

Golden Palace Casino Launches Tournament Blackjack

Posted in Black Jack by Baccarat

Golden Palace Online Casinos recently announced they will continue to offer their online casino games to US residents, and they have also added tournament blackjack to their list of games.

Tournament blackjack is the latest big thing in the online casino industry. Tournament blackjack combines the popularity of blackjack with the skill of online tournament play. Players play against each other instead of the house.

In standard blackjack, players use their hand to compete against the dealer’s hand. In tournament blackjack, players are really competing against the other players on the table. Players must use strategy and skill and a little bit of luck never hurts – the winner in tournament blackjack is the player with the most chips at the end of the final level of play.

Players pay an entry fee into the blackjack tournament, and receive a set number of chips each. They then gamble these chips against the dealer, and the player with the least amount of chips after a predetermined specific hand is eliminated.

Bookies make out big Week 9

With quite a few underdogs winning this past weekend, online gambling companies did great for NFL Week 9.

Even more so the public got annihilated on some key games.

73% of the betting public had money on the New York Giants to cover against the Houston Texans.  Bad call.  The Giants won but failed to cover.

A whopping 81% of action was on the Dallas Cowboys who lost outright against the Washington Redskins.

Atlanta?  Forget about it.  81% of the betting populous had the Falcons to beat Detroit but the Lions sneaked in with an outright win.

The Chicago Bears win was a killer for gamblers as well with nearly 75% of the action against Miami, who handed the Bears their first loss of the season.

Minnesota!  74% of bettors had the Vikings.  Let the bloodbath continue.  Bookies really made out big here.

The only game where the bettors gave the bookies somewhat of a bath was with the New Orleans Saints win since 63% of bettors were on the Saints, but even that was pretty much a wash.

Most of the other games saw even or close-to-even betting action on both sides.

You download the online casino software onto your computer. Then you install the casino program onto your hard disk and register as a new player to open your online gambling account. You can usually choose whether to play for free or play for real money. There are many online gambling sites on the net with many online gambling offers.

If you decide to play for real money you usually make a deposit into your account using your credit card or by some other means of cash transfer. If you gamble and win and want to withdraw your winnings you go to the website’s cashier or bank and request to cash-out. They will then send you a check with your winnings, by wire transfer, or check or in the manner you choose.
