A look at today’s hottest online casino software
One of the reasons that online gaming is so popular is that the gaming software keeps on getting better and better. Among the hottest of these online betting tools are these top 7 software companies:
Viper Microgaming
Microgaming Casinos keep on getting better, and the word is out that they have no problem paying out. As the largest of the casino software providers, Microgaming can be counted on to deliver non-stop slot action and so many different varieties of video poker that you might not be able to pick the one you like best.
With a full line of games including Craps, Baccarat, Roulette, Poker, Progressive Slots, Blackjack, Sic Bo and more, it’s no wonder that they keep on opening new casinos.
Playtech
Your money is safe here too, and that’s great news because Playtech is an up-and-coming software provider that has found a way to blend great action with lightweight and easy-to-download software that plays as well on a MAC as it does on the PC. And their web-based games, running on Java and Shockwave platforms, are about as realistic as you can get without visiting Vegas in person.
Real Time Gaming (RTG)
Another major software provider, but this one unfortunately enjoys a mixed reputation for customer service. It’s not the software’s fault, however, because the action is as good as it gets. That’s particularly true with the blackjack games. If you settle down to play at an RTG casino, just take a few minutes out to Google its reputation before you ante up your money.
Vegas Technology (Odds On)
Solid, reliable, and around since the dawn of online gaming, Vegas Technology, also known as Odds On, casinos are all owned by The English Harbour Entertainment Group. No customer service or honesty issues at all; these casinos are all top-rate. Although the graphics aren’t exactly leading-edge, little features like being able to individually adjust the card-delivery speed have to be experienced to be appreciated. Known for their $1 and $2 table limits, Odds On casinos can be enjoyed by anyone regardless of their budget.
Boss Media
It takes a lot to be the Boss, and Boss media casinos have what it takes. Unbelievably sharp graphics, multi-player tables with real-time chat and buy-ins starting at just $1 combine to make Boss Media casinos worth visiting again and again. And if you’re not into groups, just set the privacy setting on and play all by yourself.
Random Logic
It’s hard not to trust a software company that’s owned by the folks that own “Casino on Net” and the “Golden Reef Casino.” No customer service issues here. While you won’t find the largest selection of games at either of these casinos, the ones you do find are first-rate. Great graphics and great response; not quite in-your-face reality, but worth playing anyway.
Cryptologic
Cryptologic, a Canadian company that’s publicly-traded on the U.S. NASDAQ Stock Exchange, leads the pack when it comes to realistic settings and experience. It really is as close to playing at a live casino as you’ll get online. They offer real-time chat at their multi-player tables and there’s one thing you can always be sure of: You win – you get paid.
Hopefully your curiosity-level is piqued and you’re ready to try your luck at one of these great casinos running the world’s best casino software.

The Future of Mobile Gambling and Betting
According to industry experts, mobile gambling and betting is the future. What’s driving this fast-growing trend is the availability of 3G services, more sophisticated handsets, and also the fact that people are using their mobile devices including cell phones and PDAs for so much more than communication.
Checking and sending email, paying bills, taking pictures, playing games, and even shopping are all possible with mobile devices that incorporate wireless Internet connectivity. So really, it was just a matter of time before the online gaming industry took maximum advantage of this technology.
All you need is software and connectivity
To learn what mobile gambling and betting has to offer you’ll first have to find and download gaming software that’s compatible with your handset. With so many options to choose from, that definitely won’t be hard. There’s software that’ll let you play for free, or for money and even for prizes.
From there, setup is fast and easy. In no time at all, you’ll be seeing and hearing the sights and sounds you’ve come to love. With mobile gambling and betting, you’ll find all your favorites including Blackjack, Roulette, Poker, Slots, and more.
And, when you team up with an industry leader like Playtech and Parlay, you won’t have to worry about your most personal information falling into the wrong hands. That’s because their software incorporates state-of-the-art encryption technology.
Once again, taking the lead in the mobile gambling and betting market is WinwardCasino.com. Already known as a leading online casino gaming site, Windward was the first site to offer a fully-functional wireless casino where you can play in real time using real money.
With support for over 200 mobile devices and compatibility with both Windows PocketPC and PalmOS, Windward’s mobile gambling software is free to download. Once installed you’ll be able to wager using a single account if you want, anytime from anywhere!
Where is the growth?
The only thing standing in the way of this market’s exponential growth is the fact that mobile gambling, like other types of gambling, is an industry that’s currently constrained by legislation. Its growth likely will be dramatically curtailed in the US as it continues to strengthen the barriers against online gambling. The outlook for growth in Europe is better; however the pace is quickly being outstripped by the Asian market.
According to Bruce Gibson of Jupiter Research on the topic of markets for mobile gambling, “The downgrading of forecasts for the North American market increases the focus on the key markets of Europe and Asia Pacific. These two markets are now expected to contribute over 80% of the value of bets placed through to 2011.”
If you’re still unsure what all the hype is about, here’s another way to put it. With mobile gambling and betting you don’t need to head over to the horse track or wait until you get home from work or school before playing your favorite casino game. Now, everything you need for endless hours of gambling and betting entertainment fits comfortably in the palm of your hand!

Four Amazing 2007 Must-See Poker Tournaments!
Here’s what you need to know about what I consider to be the 4 “must-see” poker tournaments of 2007.
Aussie Millions
Well, it’s a little late for the Aussie Millions, but here’s a recap of the highlights:
With a total prize pool of AUD$12.6 million and a main event prize pool of AUD$7.47 million, the pressure was on for the 312 poker players who put it all on the line for a chance to come away with a fortune so big that Melbourne’s Crown Poker Room can once again claim an Australian poker tournament record.
It took six gruelling days and 746 eliminations to get to the final two hour head-to-head battle that saw Gus Hansen walk away as the undisputed 2007 Aussie Millions Main Event Champion. If you are curious about who else played and how much they won, check the tournament results at Crown Poker.
EPT Monte Carlo
The European Poker Tour’s season 3 Grand Finale is coming to spectacular Monte Carlo March 28 – April 1. With breathtaking views of the sparkling blue Cote d’ Azure, the Monte Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort in Monaco will be the place to see and be seen. Said to be the inspiration for the set of the classic 1953 James Bond adventure Casino Royale, what better location could there be for the third season end of Europe’s richest poker tournament?
With a buy-in of €10,000, you could be in the company of the previous season’s EPT winners including Jeff Williams who last year walked away with €900,000!
WPT Foxwoods
There’s no better place to mingle with poker professionals and amateurs alike than Foxwoods Casino, nestled in the lush green woodlands of Connecticut. And if you’re there between November 8 and November 13 you can be among the hundreds of hopeful entrants who will compete in one of poker’s premier events, the World Poker Finals.
Last year’s WPT final table action at Foxwoods Casino resulted in Victor Ramdin walking away with over $1 million in winnings and the ultimate title after a grueling 6 hours of play that included 120 hands of poker. Victor beat out 430 other entrants. If you’ve got the buy-in fee, you too can be among this year’s WPT Foxwoods hopefuls!
Irish Open
The Irish Open is Europe’s biggest, oldest, and most prestigious No Limit Holdem poker tournament. This year 800 enthusiastic poker players will gather in Dublin April 6th thru April 9th for their chance to win a guaranteed €2 Million. Now in its 26th year, the Irish Open attracts poker professionals from around the world. The buy in for this poker event is €3,300 and the fee to register is €200.
Hey, how about some free seats?
You have an opportunity right now to win a free seat to these and other 2007 poker events at several online poker sites. Besides the free seat and the chance to play poker against some of today’s most skilled players, many these contests are throwing in travel and hotel accommodations and spending money too! There’s no easier (and cheaper!) way to look like you’re a member of the High-Rollers club than by winning a free seat.
To see what Doyle’s Room has to offer just click here.
To see how you can sign up to win a free seat at pokertime.com click here then choose the event from the column on the left.
And if you don’t know much about how these tournaments work you’ll definitely want to read this article at poker.com first.
Good Luck!

With a total prize pool of AUD$12.6 million and a main event prize pool of AUD$7.47 million, you can bet that the pressure was on for the 312 poker players who put it all on the line for a chance to come away with a fortune so big that Melbourne’s Crown Poker Room can once again claim an Australian poker tournament record.
But then again, what would you expect from Crown Poker, the people who practically invented the poker tournament in Australia.
It took six gruelling days and 746 eliminations to get to the final two hour head-to-head battle that saw Gus Hansen walk away as the undisputed 2007 Aussie Millions Main Event Champion.
The 2007 Aussie Millions Tournament attracted New Zealander Lee “Final Table” Nelson, Kenna “Cowboy” James, actor Michael Vartan and a whole lot more famous and not-so-famous players hoping to make the big grab.
If you are curious about who else played in the 2007 Aussie Millions Tournament and how much they won, you can check the tournament results by visiting the Crown Poker web site.
The Aussie Millions tournament has its roots in the old Australasian Poker Championship which was held at the Crown Poker Room in the world-famous Crown Entertainment Complex during July of 1998. With a $1,000 buy in, the first major Limit Hold ‘em tournament offered a $74,000 prize pool and garnered 74 players. It was big news at that time.
The Crown Australian Poker Championship, or the ‘Aussie Millions’ as it is commonly called, sprang from those humble beginnings. The first Aussie Millions tournament pulled in 40 players who each put in $5,000 for a shot at their share of a $200,000 prize pool. But it wasn’t until January of 2003 that the tournament earned the right to use the word “Millions” in its title. That was the year that 122 players vied for a piece of a then record-setting AUS $1.2m prize pool.
Word spread and the January 2005 Aussie Millions attracted 263 players from around the world who risked $10,000 each for a shot at the No Limit Hold ‘em Main Event that sported a $2,630,000 prize pool which was billed as the “biggest prize pool ever in the Southern Hemisphere.” Players checked in from Canada, Denmark, England, Holland, Ireland, Italy, Lebanon, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, USA and, of course, Australia.
The lure of big money drew in a huge field of players for the 2006 Aussie Millions tournament that set another world’s record. A total of 418 players from around the globe showed up to try and collect their share of a whopping AUD $4,18,000 prize pool.
The 2006 tournament finally hit the mainstream and attracted top poker players including WSOP Champion Joe Hachem, Phil Ivey, John Juanda, Daniel Negreanu, Barry Greenstein, Kathy Leibert, Scott Fischman, Chip Jett, David Williams, Antonio Esfandiari, Mike Sexton, Tony G, Jesse Jones, Clonnie Gowan and a seemingly endless list of others.
Plans are being made for the 2008 tournament to be held once again in July. Be there!
Till next time :)

Following the arrests in the US of its founders, NETeller, the well known online payment third-party processor , has ceased allowing US Customers to use its services as of 8am EST 17th Jan 2007.
Citadel Commerce, another recognized payment processing brand in the industry, have also decided to stick to non-gambling transactions following NETeller steps.
Rumors going around that CLICK2PAY, probably the 3rd largest payment processing company is also withdrawing the USA market by not allowing new accounts to American residents as of Jan.19.
Other well known USA based e-wallets, eCheck and INSTADEBIT also decided to stop casino transactions.
Does that mean the end of the online betting fun for Americans?
Well, that depends on you. We are happy to announce that are many alternative easy, safe and secure deposit and cash out methods.
I have a question for you: - What happened when PayPal, the giant of online payments, stopped gambling transactions back in 2001?
Casino operators are running around, as we speak, cutting new deals with smaller “eWallet” companies. We still don’t know who is going to be the winner. Who’s going to take the gap.
The bottom line is that people are going to find a way.
Here is a list of other safe and secure deposit and cash-out methods accepted by some online casinos, poker and sport books:
· Credit Cards (Visa, MasterCard and Diners Club)
Some casinos will use a third, not gambling, party that shows in your statement. They
almost 100% acceptance rate of any credit or debit card.
· Click2Pay
USA Players who have active Click2Pay accounts may process their deposits and
withdrawals through Click2Pay.
· ePassporte
An eWallet solution similar to NETeller.
· PayTru
An eWallet solution similar to NETeller. Easy to use!
· PaySpark
Another eWallet solution similar to NETeller.
· ATMonline
An eWallet solution similar to NETeller. I must say I’m not a big they require you to install and Active X.

This another reliable way.
· Moneybookers
Moneybookers is a highly trusted and secure method of making international online
payments.

Convenient and reliable e-Wallet.

No matter which of the winter holidays you celebrate, or even if you don’t celebrate the season at all, there are some great holiday casino promotions waiting to jingle your bells.
Most of the Holiday promotions have a short eligibility period so I’m not going to waste your time with a lot of blabber. Let’s dive right into them.
English Harbour
If you haven’t grabbed their $250 “Welcome Bonus”, it’s still available. Click on the promotion link right on the home page. It’s a 100% initial deposit match deal with a max limit of $250.
But that’s not for the Holidays only. This one is: The $25,000 “Festive Free Rolls” promotion runs from 12/01 – 12/31. Grab your share of the $25,000 pot now before it’s gone.
InterCasino
They’re offering a $100 match bonus for all players, new and old. But that’s just for starters. They’ll also be awarding $50 spot cash to random players throughout December, and you get a chance to double that to $100 bucks. Check the site for details.
December is also the month for their $5,000 3-D Slots Tourney, and there’s a $50,000 Poker tourney with just a $5 entry fee! Ho ho ho!
All Jackpots
They’re running their “Buy $50 Get $250” signup bonus for first timers. So if you haven’t played with these guys yet, get on over there before they come to their senses. Pacific Poker
Here’s your Holiday chance to grab some great gifts courtesy of PacificPoker/888.com. They’re giving away plenty of prizes including an LCD TV, Mountain Bike, Digital Camera, Sony Hi-fi, iPods and lots more. But hurry! The promotion runs until December 29th when they’ll award one lucky player a new laptop computer!
Most casinos aren’t splashing their Holiday promotions across their home page (they need lessons in advertising I guess), so don’t assume that there’s nothing going on at your favorite gaming spot. Click the “Promotions” link to see if there’s any Holiday cheer to be found.
Happy Holidays and a very Happy New Year!
I’ll be back in 2007 with more great casino insider-only news!

Does the U.S. gambling ban spell the end of the online gambling industry?
I guess that depends on who you are and how much you gamble. While there is no question that U.S. gamblers put a lot of money into the online pot,
they’re not the only high rollers.
Online gambling is a big draw in Asia with industry experts predicting that by the end of 2010, gambling revenues from that region will surpass the
best years the U.S. has enjoyed. Of course, this projected growth depends upon gaming operators finding new and improved ways to move money into and out of the lesser developed countries where both the banking and the communication infrastructures lag behind those of Japan, Hong Kong and
Singapore.
EU gamblers are currently kicking in ?25 billion (U.S. $31.7 billion), and that amount is expected to increase annually as well.
So, while some online gambling site operators are in “duck and cover” mode, with network managers setting up IP blocks to stop U.S.-originated Internet
traffic from accessing their sites, others are looking for a way to turn lemons into lemonade.
Rumor has it that hush-hush negotiations are going on between countries that support private offshore banking operations and those that support
offshore gambling.
The thrust of these negotiations is to try and come up with a loophole that will enable U.S. gamblers, particularly the deep-pocketed high-rollers, to
transfer funds legally from U.S. accounts. Once those funds reach private offshore banks, they would be beyond the regulatory reach of the U.S.
Government.
The questions is, in an era of “follow the money” anti-terrorism snooping where offshore transfers are watched very closely by the Feds, is there even a chance for a loophole of this type to exist?
Even if a hole big enough to channel a billion dollars a year or more of U.S. gambling dollars is found, what about the problems associated with
getting U.S. IP addresses through network blocking software? Will well- funded gamblers find out that they’ve made their ante but are blocked from
getting their cards?
“That’s where good old fashioned proxy servers come in,” according to one betting site network technician who declined to be identified.
A proxy server is a special computer that accepts incoming connections from web browsers and then redirects those browsers to whatever web site the
user wants to visit. The nature of a proxy server is that once a browser connects, that browser’s IP address is “lost” and all outbound traffic from
that point appears to be coming straight from the proxy server.
What this means in real life is that once a U.S. user connects to an International proxy server in Denmark, for example, the user’s “footprints”
stop at that server. From that point, no one can tell what sites the user visited. The end result is that offshore gambling sites will not attempt to
block the user because the traffic isn’t coming from the U.S. It’s coming from Denmark!
Of course, all this international intrigue isn’t going to happen overnight, if it happens at all. So, in the meantime, U.S. gamblers are going to have
to make the trip to their nearest terrestrial casino the next time the urge for a game of poker strikes, or they can visit this link to see
(USA Casinos) on-line casinos are still accepting U.S. players.
See you next time :)

The Gambling-Gazette.com will also bring you industry news to help you keep up to date with the latest news and current events in the on-line gambling Industry.
Gaming Tip of the Week
The poker boom of the past five or six years has produced a glut of no limit Texas Hold’em players in on-line card rooms. Many begin playing after watching the World Series of Poker and seeing internet players do well. One thing a lot of internet players don’t give the attention it deserves is position. The way to win at no limit Texas Hold’em is to get other players to make bad decisions. These decisions are made based on the information you and the other players at the table provide. Use late position at the table to re-raise, check-raise, or just check an opponent into making bad decisions.
Watch the players in early position, and the types of hands they play. Players who play marginal hands in early position may not have a lot of experience. Having late position and especially the button, you can get away with playing marginal hands because you’ve seen the players in front of you act, and you have a little more information than they did when they played their hand.
Raising a pot pre-flop out of position can set you up for disaster if you are not careful. Even getting involved in pots with early position is sometimes unwise, but a good hand is a good hand no matter where and if you think you can get your money in with the best of it, that is also important poker strategy. The flip side of that coin is that when someone raises under the gun (first to act), their hand will get a little extra respect from experienced players if they don’t do it often. Using this tactic to bluff can work effectively once in a while, but I wouldn’t recommend doing it very often.
On a side note to this, beginning players should watch how the early position players bet when you go to a new site and sit down at a table. Betting patterns in early position can give you a good idea of the level of talent and experience you are competing against. This may let you know if you are the fish at the table, or if you are at a table full of fish.
Free Roll Tournaments
Poker Free Roll tournaments are just about what they sound like. Free tournaments, you qualify for by making so many bets, or depositing in a gambling account. Qualifying means you have to deposit a certain amount in an account, or play a certain number of raked hands or whatever the qualifications call for. Poker rooms use these tournaments as promotional tools, and just about every online poker room has them. Prizes may be cash or merchandise, and if you qualify you can get in for nothing. Finding these tournaments is very easy, with sites available exclusively to direct people to free roll tournaments.
The bigger the better generally in free roll tournament play. Poker giant PartyPoker.com has good free rolls starting often. Titan, Poker stars, Pacific Poker, Ultimate bet, and Paradise Poker all offer many free roll tournaments with great prizes. If the tournament is rewarding you for something you were going to do anyway, such as play so many hands, or bet on sporting events, or horses then all the better. They can be a great deal.
Paradise Poker has the richest free roll tournament with a million dollar free roll. You must have a real money account with Paradise Poker, and you get a chance to get to the final table after playing in heat events. These heats can pit you against as many as 5,000 other players, making it kind of a long shot, but a million dollars for nothing isn’t a bad deal.
The obvious thing about free roll tournaments is that everyone got in for free. This can make for a lot of fireworks early in a free roll tournament. Be careful about getting involved with the ultra aggressive players early in a free roll tournament because they just don’t care about the money. Later as players get close to cashing positions, you can play a little looser to take a shot at winning the tournament. Whatever strategy you use, enjoy your shot at the free prize money. And as you know, if you’ve had to play a lot of raked hands to get in the tournament, it isn’t totally free. Go in with the attitude that your seat cost something, even if it’s just your rewards points, and defend them to the end.
Industry News
The attention of most on-line gambling companies has been on the indictments handed down against London based BetOnSports PLC executives, and the arrest of CEO David Carruthers while changing planes at Dallas-Fort Worth airport. That arrest is part of a 22 count indictment for conspiracy fraud and racketeering against key executives at BetOnSports. Many insiders believe the arrest of Carruthers is a ploy to get him to turn on founder Gary Kaplan who is outside the jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of Justice and charged with 20 felony counts under the RICO act.
The indictments forced the BetOnSports to be removed as a publicly traded company from the London Stock Exchange. After shocks included 1,300 employees of BetOnSports losing their jobs, and plunging stock prices for investors of on-line betting operations that do business with U.S. citizens. If that didn’t affect people enough, the company shut down it’s phone lines and sites leaving gamblers uncertain about the money on deposit, and winnings payouts. BetOnSports has stated that payouts would be made within 90 days, but they have been less than forthright during this ordeal. Advertisers on the site are also affected by the indictments making innocent people suffer the brunt from this witch hunt.
David Carruthers sits in a hotel outside St. Louis Missouri wearing an electronic ankle bracelet. Freed on a million dollars bail, Carruthers was fired from his position soon after his arrest. BetOnSports had over is a multi-billion dollar company with well over 100,000 active players.
United States laws about sports betting on the internet are in a kind of grey area since the Wire Act prohibiting phone bets was enacted in 1961. At that time the internet would have been inconceivable to lawmakers. The current regime’s attempts to shut down on-line gaming to its citizens have increased as the current administration believes in needs to get this done before leaving office. So far legislation has been able to limit the ways on-line gambling accounts can be funded, just making more inconvenient and costly to fund your account and get paid off.
Proponents of a ban on internet gambling to U.S. citizens insist on saving people from themselves. Republican representative Tom Osborne from Nebraska believes this is a tremendously important piece of legislation because internet gambling is fueling illegal gambling on college campuses. Osborne is the former head coach of the Nebraska Cornhuskers and was known by sports talk show host Jim Rome as Brubaker, for the large number of criminals he recruited. Now Dr. Osborne is concerned about the well being of people on college campuses after filling them with criminals during his tenor as head coach. This may be more hypocritical than all of the state representatives whose state run lotteries encourage people to gamble on games they have almost no chance of winning, and that pays out only about 50% of the money they take in. Any other bet that paid 50% back wouldn’t be one people would make, but the promise of huge, life changing scores in a lottery is enough to blind most people to the odds of winning.
Are You Ready for Some Football
Aside from the bad industry news with American Lawmakers trying to reinstate prohibition, it is also football season. College and Pro football kick off this month. With the pre-season well underway, gamblers are chomping at the bit to get the regular season started. Football season is the busiest for sports betting sites, and more money is wagered on College and Pro football than any other sport. It’s time to start studying the teams if you’re going to make a profit on football this season. Some great match-ups are slated even early in the year. Quarterbacking brothers Eli and Peyton Manning go head to head in the opening NFL weekend as Eli’s New York Giants take on brother Peyton’s highly ranked Indianapolis Colts. Eli Manning has been in Peyton’s shadow for years now, and is predicted to have a breakout season. The Colts are favored by many to win the Super Bowl. The brother versus brother angle is sure to have fans around the world tuned in for the opening weekend of what promises to be another exciting football season.
