Grand Prix Betting Tips

Posted in Gambling General, Sport Betting by Diana Sterling

Apparently betting on a Formula 1 grand prix race is just the same thing as betting on a horse racing or any other race of this kind. But in fact the things are completely different and that’s why in the next lines I’ll try to explain you which are the biggest differences and what could we do to use this in our advantage.

The first difference we may notice is that we have only 18 races per season and not tons of them (in a horse racing event we may have 10 – 20 races in a single day). So you have only a few betting opportunities in a whole year. But the most important difference is the fact that there are a couple of drivers / teams that manage to win at least one race (normally maximum 4-5 drivers and 2-3 teams fight with real chances to win) and in like half of the races the favorite is wining the race. That results in very low odds on the big favorites which will bring only small gains. These two factors combined (low number of races and low odds for favorites) bring a clear conclusion: if you want to make some serious money you must make quite higher bets and you can’t afford to lose.

Starting from this point that “you can’t afford to lose” you must analyze each and every race very carefully and you’ll see that these analyzes pay for themselves. And here are the most common analyzes you can perform prior of betting on a race:
analyze the weather; each driver / car / tyre manufacturer performs better on worse on different weather types (some are better on sunny weather, while other excel on rain)
analyze prior results on this circuit and on circuits of the same type; again each driver / car / tyre manufacturer performs different on different circuit types (some are better on high speed circuits, while others are better on circuits with lots of curves)
analyze last races results; there is more likely that a driver that won the last two races to win and this one – however concentrate only on the last 2-3 races and not races which are several months old

Now that analyzes are done let’s see how to make the effective bet. I suggest betting on the big favorite only if the odds are higher than 2 – 2.5 or if they are higher than 1.5 – 2 and your own analyzes also show the driver as a favorite. Alternatively try a second bet on another driver who won at least one race in the last two seasons but has the highest odds (which will bring you the highest revenue). Finally place a third bet on the driver / team that is most fitted on the circuit type and weather forecast.

You can make the analyzes ‘till the moment when the cars start the official rate, but I highly recommend making the bets before qualifiers – this way you’ll get way better betting rates and the chances are quite the same – that’s before Thursday (Wednesday for Monaco Grand Prix).

Alternatively instead of betting on the race winner you can bet on who will make on top six or on what driver will quit before the end of the race – it is said that these can also brings a lot of cash, but I can’t tell you more about these since I never tried them.
