An Internet research company, which last week published the results of a visibility survey on online poker operations, has released similar statistics related to 20 online casinos.

The firm’s findings are based on Google US first page results from searches using commonly deployed search terms such as ‘casino’, ‘online casino’, ‘casino games’, ‘online slots’ and ‘Internet casino’.

Many of the names on the list are not operational Internet casinos but casino information portals.
Skipping the information portals, Getminted.com came seventh, scoring 30 percent; followed by Littlewoods Casino (24 percent), Stanley Casino (24 percent), William Hill Casino (13 percent) and Cryptologic’s Intercasino (13 percent). The popular 32Red Casino came in at 13th place with 10 percent.

As was the case with Greenlight’s online poker study last week, Wikipedia – the online encyclopaedia – scored remarkably high, coming in at 5th place on 47 percent due to link liquidity.

The most popular search terms typed in by Internet users in search of online casinos were ‘casino’ at 59 percent, ‘online casino’ at 10 percent, ‘casino games’ at 4 percent, ‘online slots’ at 2 percent and ‘internet casino’ at 1 percent.

A ranking of the casino brands best optimized for search engines revealed in an identical study for Google UK that 888.com is the highest profile casino website among UK web-users.

, continue to be the most visible poker sites to American Internet users despite no longer taking US bets, another research revealed in the past.

Internet Gambling Regulation Consumer Protection & Enforcement Act has finally been introduced in the US congress on 6th of May. After much apprehension, Barney Frank, the Chairman of the U.S. House Financial Services Committee insinuated a new legislation in Congress that would not only evaginate the UIGEA (Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act) of 2006 but would also authenticate a legal gubernatorial schema to authorize online gambling in the United States.

The upcoming bill, commonly referred to as the Internet Gambling Regulation Consumer Protection & Enforcement Act, would give U.S. Treasury Department the ascendancy to administer the way online gambling is carried throughout the nation. The Treasury Department would have the authority to issue or revoke licenses through which this system would be implemented.

Interestingly enough as a side note, Mr. Frank informed the reporters that he will also usher a bill that would suspend the exertion of UIGEA.

The concerned legislation is highly anticipated not only in the United States but also overseas. According to a report, a number of Internet gambling websites have displaced a good amount of Euros because of UIGEA. The legislation has not only constrained trade relations between USA and EU; but has also resulted in the unjustified litigation against European gambling companies like PartyGaming.
