Myself, I gamble for the thrill. It is certainly not for the money, I enjoy my winnings, but I never bank on getting them. Often, I do lose more than I had initially planned to risk, but I never bank on winning.
It is just for the thrill. I love a good game of cards, especially poker. But their is no way of judging your poker skill without gambling. It just doesn't compute for me. We could play for matchsticks, but it is just not the same, in the end, I don't care if I lose all the matchsticks, or if I win them all. Exchange the matchsticks for $, even quarters, and it becomes interesting to me.
