Blackjack Review

Blackjack is also known as 21. Everyone is familiar with the basics of this game. You have to get closer to 21 than the dealer. If you hit over 21 you lose, also called a “bust”. You do not want to bust. The number cards are worth their face value, the face cards are worth 10 points with the Ace being worth 1 or 11 depending on how you decide to play it in your hand. Bets are placed and the dealer throws the cards out, after the spread he flops one of his cards exposing it to the other players.

This is the heart of the game, everyone at the table is basing there strategies based on the flop card. Where do we go from here? The skeleton of the game has been assembled now let’s get some meat on those bones and build a monster game.

Here is a little lingo that will help you at the table, any hand containing an ace is referred to as a “soft” hand, why? Well, the player can use it as a 1 or an 11 so the hand isn’t set yet, it’s “soft”. I mention this again, because this can effect how the dealer is allowed to play. Dealer either stands on 17 or has to draw on “soft” 17. Soft 17 give the house a slightly higher advantage due to the fact the dealer has a great shot at getting closer to 21, making your job even tougher. Okay so the we know now that the dealer does have limitations, while this does give the player something to use in his strategy the house advantage in blackjack is relatively high so do yourself a favor and watch a couple of games to get the feel and flow.

You can do a few of things with your cards, you can hit which is to keep getting cards, you can stand, you can double down which means you get to double your bet and add only one more card to your hand, and you can split. Splitting is an option when you get a pair in your hand, you can split the cards and have to hands going and play them independently, highly recommended. Now you can also surrender, which is to say, that you can forfeit half of your bet to bow out of the hand, but who wants to do that, right?

There are a plethora of calculators and charts that illustrate what to do with what you get. Common wisdom is to stand on 17, don’t split on 10’s and double down on 11. These three tips have always served as a good basis for a solid game and is the cornerstone of my personal game. Remember to only handle the cards with one hand, keep the cards on the table and always toss cards in face up, and as always, have fun!

Chips or money, depending on the game

The Aim of the Online BlackJack Game

The aim of the game blackjack is to draw cards totalling closer to 21 those in the dealer's hand -without exceding 21. Cards Jack, Queen King each count as 10. An Ace count as 1 or 11. All number cards have their face value.

Online Blackjack Rules

Blackjack is typically played between two people, a dealer and a player. The dealer deals one card facing down and once card facing up each to themselves and the player. The player then places a bet, which the dealer must match.

The goal of the game is to get as close to to 21 points in your hand as possible. Each number card is worth the number on the card, and each face card (Jack, Queen and King) are all worth 10. Aces are worth either 11 points or 1 point. A "blackjack" is getting an ace and face card dealt to you. Since this adds up to 21 points, it is unbeatable.

The player has two options after being dealt their cards. They can either 1) Ask for a Hit, which is another card that they will add to their total, or 2) Stand, in which they don\'t get any more cards and the dealer then decides wheat her get a hit or stand. Both players can ask for multiple hits. If either\'s total gets above 21, they "go bust", which means they immediately lose.

The players alternate who deals.

Black Jack (like Online Poker) is card game of chance and skill in which players may improve their chance of winning by using a betting strategy.

After receiving two cards from the dealer the player can choose to be dealt more cards so as to have a total score closer to 21 than the dealer's total -without going over 21.

The online casino house margin for BlackJack is generally less than 0.5% for skilled black jack players.

The Basic Easy Strategy

Always hit with 13 or less points and stick with 17 or more points. When holding 14,15 or 16 points, the value of the dealer\'s upcard must be considered. If the dealer has a picture card, a 9, or an ace showing, it is generaly wise to hit. But if the dealer has a 5 or a 6 showing, it\'s a good card sense to stick, because the dealer will probably go bust.

BlackJack and Card Counting

Card counting is the act of keeping track of the cards already played out. This technique is used predominantly by experts as a means of beating the casino at blackjack.

The basic element of card counting is that when a high percentage of 10-value cards and Aces have been dealt out, the deck becomes unfavorable for the player. However, the more of the smaller cards, such as 2s, 3s, 4s, 5s, 6s and 7s that have been dealt out, the more the deck or decks are favorable for the player.

By watching closely, a player can get a fair idea of the cards already dealt. A good rule in a single deck game is only to raise the bet when the first round shows a high proportion of small cards dealt out, and to lower the bet if the first round shows a higher proportion of tens and aces. With each subsequent round, if a player notices that, cumulatively, more tens have been dealt, they should keep your bet low. But if the player notices more small cards being played out, they should raise their bet. This strategy works because a single deck is susceptible to changes in deck composition. To effectively beat the casinos at black jack, whether playing a single or multiple deck game, it is necessary for a player to develop some means of card counting.

Online blackjack players, who gamble entirely at internet casinos, will discover that any type of card counting strategy is moot, as online casinos shuffle their decks between every hand.
